Three months ago we began discussing the idea of offering tween sessions with the purpose of speaking truth to the girls through words that some of the closest people in their lives were willing to share with us. We wanted to inspire them with confidence (as Embolden’s definition states), and to allow them to read words of affirmation of their character, gifts, and talents.
Fast forward, and we are delighted to have already photographed 10 girls’ “I AM EMBOLDENED” sessions and have a handful more on the books. The session has offered time for a mom (or grandma or dad) and daughter to talk about a hobby or sport they wanted to highlight in their pictures, to choose favorite outfits together, to paint nails, put on some lip gloss, play with hair, and come in for the photo shoot together. A week or two later they come back in to view the photos together, but what the daughter doesn’t know until she comes in, is that various family members have filled out questionnaires about her from which we’ve collected 20-25 quotes. When they come into the session, the music begins to play, the images show on the screen, and slides with truths about who they are (on the inside) are displayed. The final product is an 8×8 hard cover album designed with both the images and the quotes. We are excited to share this album from Eleanor’s session.
